Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), sold under the brand name Plaquenil among others, is a medication used for the prevention and treatment of certain types of malaria. It is also being used as a successful experimental treatment for SARS-CoV-2 infections. It is commonly available in pharmacies around the world. It usually requires a medical prescription. Australia added medication against AIDS to the mix.
